Top 10 Business Categories in the United States, arranged by Annual Net Sales for the Four Major Racial/Ethnic Groups

The following table shows the Top 10 business categories in terms of Annual Net Sales (after deducting payroll), for each of the four major Racial/Ethnic groups.  The data in the table is for businesses with paid employees and in the United States.

This data is for businesses with no paid employees.

Some Observations

The New car dealers business category had the highest net sales (after deducting payroll) for 3 of the 4 major Racial/Ethnic groups.  White-Owned, Hispanic-Owned, and Black-Owned businesses all had this business category as the leader in net sales.  For Asian-Owned businesses, Gasoline stations with convenience stores was the leading net sales business category.

The business category, Offices of Physicians,  was ranked in the Top 10 for Annual Net Sales for all four of the major Racial/Ethnic group-owned business people.

The three major Minority-Owned business groups, Hispanic, Black/African-American, and Asian, all had the categories, Full-service restaurants, and Limited-service restaurants ranked in the Top 10 for Annual Net Sales.

Hispanic-Owned businesses in the category, Gasoline stations with convenience stores, were not in the Top 10 for that Ethnic group of owners.

Businesses owned by members of all of the major Racial/Ethnic groups except Black/African-American, had in their Top 10 of Annual Net Sales, the categories, Wholesale trade agents and brokers and Supermarkets and other grocery stores.

The Annual Net Sales for the Number 1 business category for White-Owned (Non-Hispanic) businesses was $492.1 billion.  That amount surpasses the same figures for the Minority-Owned firms by extremely wide margins, as the following table shows.

Likewise, at $87.2 billion, the Number 10 business category for White-Owned (Non-Hispanic) businesses exceeded the Annual Net Sales for Minority-Owned businesses significantly.
